This favorite leisure activity will be referred to as gaming on the move. We don’t mean figuratively but literally so! Garnet Hertz has created what he likes to call the OutRun project. And this unique gaming system has successfully combined the real world with Sega’s seminal racing game. This is achieved by simply converting the 1986 sit-down arcade cabinet into a rather small but drivable car. Believe it or not, but this car can reach a speed of 20 miles per hour.

A li’l birdie told us that this arcade machine has been greatly inspired by the 1984 Ferrari Testarossa. And the quite evident stamp can be seen in the wheels, motors and equipment like the GPS sensors that help run the cabinet like an actual car. You get updates on-screen.

Garnet is planning to equip this wonder gaming machine with all the necessary gears and stuff but before he does that, several test drives are underway to make sure that it is a perfectly safe concept. All the best to this inventor on his safeguarding mission and we sure are waiting with bated breath to lay our hands on the OutRun project for real.

Video games might be a luxury for avid gamers but as far as the luxury market is concerned, they are nothing special. Perhaps, someone (a die-hard gamer, maybe) wanted to prove this belief wrong and so decided to cover the Play Station gaming console with gold all over. What recession? Before you might start thinking that we have officially lost our minds, let us share this bit of news – a blingy Dell laptop that costs a huge $5K. Frankly, there is no shortage of high-end computer machines that wear the over-the-top bling and get sold at a high price. But we are talking about five grants here that too in the American dollar. Here are the details. Apparently, one Bergdorf Goodman wanted to get one of the new Dell Adamo XPS for himself. But then it had to be different from the masses. So they called up Swarovski and did some decorating of their own.

As a result, the lid of the Adamo 13 is festooned with a Swarovski crystal studded sterling snake, which frankly could have had a better finishing for isn’t it a flat and smooth laptop top that we always look for!

The credit for this rather horrendous show of luxury goes to creative director Douglas Little of D.L.& Co. Apparently for the likes of them, the four-digit priced Dell Adamo 13 wasn’t premium enough for their uber-rich clientele.

SGI has announced a new computer which it says is its line of personal supercomputers. Its high-performance however still means it uses just as much space as your average work station. It is fixed on a pedestal, with easy to use features and supports normal office power outlets. The Octane III as it is called, can have up to 80 high-performance cores and up to 1TB of memory. CPUs for the machine include Intel Xeon 5500 series, Dual-core Atom processors, and Xeon 3400 processors. The machine can be attached with a GP-GPU card from NVIDIA.

Would pricing be any less for a super computer of this nature! They start at $ 7,995.

SmartDesks has just the thing for all your Mac lovers out there! AS we know, the furniture makers are well-known for their ergonomic and innovative office desks so this little Apple treat will be something to watch out for. The product we are talking about is the MacTable which is a cute little structure in white that can integrate both the notebook and desktop versions, all that with a lot of style.

We are told that the makers have styled this table for iMac 20″ and 24″ displays. Built on a steel base, the MacTable maintains a low screen position that prevents neck and eye strain. The table top has been kept quite spacious to make room for your keyboard and mouse. There is a WireWonder cable manager that keeps your small components intact like the  power supplies in the 2.5″ x 3.375″ channel. Well, it’s quite simple as excess wire can be wrapped around Wire Wonder’s mushroom tops. A clean look is maintained.

The MacTable does not belong to the league of iDesk and MILK desk, but it does make for a fine addition to your home décor. There is no word on the price tag but we expect it to be well within our budget.

Steampunk has made a name for itself in modifying stuff in a very new way, and hence, they are definitely worth a dekko at least. We assume it’s the sentimental value to the owner /creator more than anything else.

Coming back to the huge price, folks are wondering if it was a misprint. Because if it indeed cost $300, the item would disappear immediately from the market. But then, it’s unfair to put a price to a work of art. Let’s take the maker’s word on that, only if you have the moolah to buy it, of course!
