Luminaries from Fashion Industry Attend Fashion Education Workshop Organised by Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama, the First Lady of America is considered one of the most glamorous and well-dressed First Ladies in recent history. She takes fashion seriously and in order to contribute towards its promotion she organized Reach Higher fashion education workshop last week at the White House. It was surely the first of its kind of event at the White House. She had invited about 150 students of fashion along with some of the industry’s greatest designers, editors and executives. The workshop gave the students an opportunity to interact with some of the industry luminaries. It is most likely to inspire them and motivate them to do more and reach higher.
The First Lady said that this workshop is a part of a series of events organized in the White House for young people. The aim is to give them the opportunity to experience the things that they’re passionate about. She hopes to inspire young people to dream bigger and to reach higher and in turn inspire others like them. Michelle Obama wore a sleeveless, navy blue dress to the workshop and announced that it was designed by one of the attendees Natalya Koval who is a FIT student. Chelsea was another student form the same institute whose creation was also awarded. The award winning students were mentored and helped in making their idea a reality by designers Phillip Lim and Lela Rose.

Michelle Obama highlighted the point that fashion not about looking good or following superficial trends. To be successful in the industry required hard work, dedication and passion. It is a major economic activity and the industry offers some great careers. The workshop had different sessions, a Q & A panel, working lunch and networking sessions with big names from the industry including Anna Wintour, Jenna Lyons, Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, Prabal Gurung, Eva Chen, Narciso Rodriguez and Philip Lim. The first Lady exhorted the participating students to make the most of the opportunity. She stressed the fact that it is education and hard work that will enable the students to achieve their goals in life.
