Luxury traveler or vacationers who are tired of overwater villas and luxury accommodations have now something to look forward to in the future. The Maldives has joined the race for an underwater resort with their plans for the world’s first undersea residence. The Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has recently announced their latest project, which is set to start as early as the fourth quarter of this year.
The undersea residence is basically a two-level structure composed of an undersea suite and an upper-level area. The suite features a king size bedroom, bathroom, living area and a spiral staircase that leads to the upper-level living room. The upper area features a twin size bedroom, powder room, bathroom, gym, private security quarters, butler’s quarters, integrated living room, dining, bar, and kitchen. There is also a deck that faces the direction of the sunset for viewing pleasure and an infinity pool, which is on the other side of the villa. In the upper level, there is also an additional king size bedroom, which has a bathroom that has an ocean-facing bathtub that gives guests an endless view of the horizon. In total, the home can accommodate up to nine people.
Overwater villa is definitely sexy, no wonder it is here to stay. Luxury resorts properties everywhere, from Mexico to Tahiti and even Dubai is stepping up their game by launching villas with everything one needs. From sauna to bathtubs with views to wellness rooms. And one of the luxury brands at the cutting edge of this re-imagining is Conrad Maldives, by updating its accommodation for overwater villas by building up or more accurately, by building down the first-two story underwater residence.
Conrad Maldives Rangal Island resort is set to debut the first underwater villa by the end of the year, culminating the $15 million research investment that would let guests sleep with sea creatures. By the way, the new underwater residence called Muraka is going to be designed by MJ Murphy, a New Zealand-based aquarium technology firm. The villa is designed to look like a curved dome, similar to the design of the underwater restaurant in Ithaa, which is another world first that debuted in 2005.
Guests of Muraka also get full access to the property’s 12 restaurants and bars, two spas, and a long lineup of water sports and activities that are available to guests who want to take a break from the mesmerizing scenes below the water or from their private loungers on the relaxation deck.
