Ferrari 458 Speciale A Revealed Prior to Paris Motor Show

There have been a series of pre Paris motor show reveals but the most stunning so far has been the Ferrari 458 Speciale A. It is clearly something special. The A in the name of the new model stands for Aperta which in English means ‘open’. It has been so named because it is a droptop model. The carmaker is claiming that it is their most powerful droptop production model ever. It has not been produced in the traditional red but in yellow. Another reason why this model is special because it is a limited edition as the production will be limited to only 499 units.

The new model is also powered by the same 4.5 liter V8 engine that is used for their hardtop Speciale. The engine is blessed with 597 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque. It is enough to speed the car from zero to 62 miles per hour in just three seconds. The new Ferrari can reach speeds of 124 mph in just 9.5 seconds. The car has this extraordinary acceleration despite its significant weight of 1445 Kgs. They could have shaved off some weight by using a fabric roof but they have opted for the same folding hard-top setup as the regular 458 Spider which has added 50 kg to the overall weight of the car.

Cockpit of the Speciale A

The Ferrari 458 Speciale A has been finished in yellow with a Blue Nart and Bianco Avus stripe running from nose to tail which gives it a sophisticated look. The yellow color extends to the inside also as the seats along with the Alcantara are also done in matching yellow. However the door panels along with the center tunnel and tread plates have been covered in blue carbon fiber that complements the stripes on the body of the car. The price of the car has not been declared so far, however it is not difficult to make an educated guess. The 458 Spider costs £20,000 more than their basic models, hence the Speciale A is also likely to be launched in the range of £230,000.
