Toshiba has launched its very own line of luxurylaptops. They form a part of the Kira line, which will include a range of luxury products. This luxury laptop called Kirabook, comes with a hefty price tag of $1,500. Now, just because you add the ‘luxury’ before any product does not mean it actually is worth the hoopla. Let us see if this one is.
The best feature of the laptop is the display. The 13.3 inches screen has a 2560 x 1444 resolution, which is really very high. This resolution is for 221 ppi, which is close to the 227 ppi of Retina Display MacBook Pro, which has 13 inch display screen. The laptop also has a ten point multi-touch display. Inside the laptop is wired with Intel’s third-generation Core i-series. Depending on the configuration, it can either be the Core i5 or Core i7. It also comes with 8GB of 1600 MHz RAM, and 256 GB of storage space, again pretty decent. The package is only 0.7 inches thick and weighs just 2.6 pounds, partly due to its pressed magnesium alloy chassis.
The Kirabook has a two year warranty and has Toshiba’s Platinum Service & Support, which includes, 24×7 phone support, rapid repair, access to Toshiba agents in the US, annual tune ups and assistance in setup. Carl Pinto, Vice President (Marketing) of the Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.’s Digital Products Division believes that the products in the Kira line “will be more than a collection of the latest hardware technologies, but a statement of craftsmanship, fit and finish, and features built for the consumer’s benefit, not technology’s sake.” Laptops in this brand will range from $1,599.99 to $1,999.99. They can be pre-ordered from May 3 onwards or buy directly from May 12th. It will be available on websites like Amazon.com, BestBuy.com or ToshibaDirect.com. You can also purchase it from the Microsoft Store, B&H or Adorama.
