Marc Jacobs is expanding the collection of fragrances. Daisy and Lola will have a little sister this summer. The new scent will be known as Dot and will have juicy and lush quality. The notes dominant in the new scent will be berries, coconut water, jasmine, orange blossom, and vanilla. Over all it will be what can be described as a spirited and charming scent. It is not just feminine but playful and the feeling is very well captured by the bottle which is basically a red orb covered in black dots adorned with black plastic disks that look like butterflies.
Fragrance Dot: Round Shapes are Beautiful
Jacobs was talking at length about the new fragrance to WWD. He considers a dot to be timeless pattern that he has loved since he became aware of beauty. He says that round shapes are always beautiful and what he is trying to convey through the Dot bottle is a hybrid butterfly-ladybug. For him it is the representation of free spirit and femininity and playfulness. He also believes that ladybugs mean good luck and the new bottle of Dot is sure to bring him good luck. But he is not depending on mere luck but has worked hard to develop a playful fragrance that appeals to his large and loyal customer base.
Ad Campaign Shot by Juergen Teller
The preparation for the launch of the new fragrance is on track and Dot will debut in over 3,300 stores in the United States and Great Britain in July. An advertisement campaign has been shot to promote the launch. Juergen Teller has shot ad campaign starring model Codie Young. The campaign will be released in magazines from the September issue right after Dot becomes available in stores. The fragrance will be available in different sizes of bottles with prices ranging from $48 to $89. The new range will also feature a body lotion costing $45 and a shower gel priced at $40. Jacobs is also gearing up for a big beauty project which will be a color cosmetics collaboration with Sephora. It is still at a preliminary stage. Watch this space for further developments.
