200 Handcrafted Swarovski Studded Eggs Ready for the Faberge Big Egg Hunt

It is February 21 and the Faberge Big Egg Hunt is scheduled to be launched today in London. The grand event has been eagerly awaited by luxury lovers and Faberge egg collectors. The event is being organized as the world’s biggest Easter egg hunt and each aspect of the event has been designed to be larger than life. For the egg, which is central to the event, Vanessa Chilton was commissioned to create a special piece which would set the tone for the grand event. She is a goldsmith at London’s famed Robinson Pelham jewelers who incidentally are the designers of the diamond earrings worn by Kate Middleton on her wedding day.

Vanessa has come up to the occasion and created a giant egg studded with Swarovski crystals. The design of the egg and its embellishment has been inspired by an Emperor Penguin. The crystals have been set in such a way as to represent the icy winter snow and the constellations in the night sky. Sparkling Swarovski crystals have been used for the egg which has been hand crafted with great care. The designers are creating a total of 200 giant eggs for this Easter event.

Apart from Robinson Pelham there are several big name designers who are associated with the event. Chapman Brothers, Giles Deacon, Zandra Rhodes, Diane Von Furstenberg and Sophie Dahl are some of the designers who will be contribution to the event by designing giant eggs for the hunt. Though these eggs might not be suitable for an egg pendant it is still a golden opportunity for the egg collectors as each of the 200 eggs that have been hand crafted for the event will be auctioned and the sale proceeds will be donated to charities including to Action for Children and Elephant Family. The penguin egg designed by Robinson Pelham is amongst the 30 eggs chosen to be recreated in miniature. The miniature recreations will be available for sale at Selfridges.
