Feature films provide the best platform to publicize exotic travel destinations. That’s the reason why tourism boards of different countries are always open to the idea of using their travel destinations as locations for popular movies. It does more for promoting the destination than a multimillion dollar publicity campaign can. Now the luxury hotel groups have also realized the advantage of collaborating with a feature film to promote their properties. Starwood Hotel Group’s Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts has provided three of their most iconic properties across the United States as location for the anticipated short film ‘Here’. The film is releasing on Tuesday the 24th of January and some release events have also been planned for the day.
The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts which is the luxury brand of Starwood Hotel Group has a portfolio of over 75 hotels and resorts in more than 35 countries. Their initiative to back the film ‘Here’ is part of their effort to inspire global travelers to explore and discover destinations in a unique and authentic way. Through this film they have become responsible for reuniting Waris Ahluwalia with Luca Guadagnino, the director of their Golden Globe-nominated film ‘I Am Love’. The reunion has been very fruitful and creative as they have been able to create a cinematic experience that offers a glimpse into the hidden treasures of some of America’s favorite destinations.
Waris conceived the project with Luca Guadagnino, Sandro Kopp and Tilda Swinton. The film has been co-written by Tilda who gratefully acknowledges The Luxury Collection’s philanthropic contribution towards the establishment of a new school for the inspired education of teenagers in the Scottish Highlands. Agyness Deyn stars in the short film and has music by Jason Schwartzman. Agyness’ costumes in the film have been designed by costume designer Heidi Bivens. The luxury hotel brand believes “Life Is a Collection of Experiences. Let Us Be Your Guide.” It is this mantra that became the creative direction for the film’s team to explore the unexpected joys of a cross country journey, from the stately Equinox in Vermont, to the sun-soaked beauty of the Phoenician in Arizona, and across the Pacific to the legendary Royal Hawaiian.
‘Here’, the short film has been produced by Waris Ahluwalia and Lucy Cooper through New York production house ALLDAYEVERYDAY. The making of the film was a great experience for Waris and he said, “I am honored to work with dear friends to create such a profoundly beautiful film that highlights the American landscape and the unique indigenous experiences we seek as travelers.”He confirmed that the film has been able to capture the great diversity, great beauty and great adventure of the American continent. The essence of it all is well represented through the Luxury Collection’s exceptional destinations. The wait is over now as the anticipated film is releasing on Tuesday. You could be part of the exciting release events and enjoy the film and the beauty of the destinations.
