CES 2012: Victorinox Presents $3,000 Swiss Army Knife With 1TB SSD Storage

Long gone are those days when portable storage devices represented bulky hard drives that needed to be carried in cases. At the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show 2012 (CES 2012) in Las Vegas, one of the foremost manufacturers of luxury Swiss knives, Victorinox has unveiled the next generation of storage devices in the form a 1TB SSD (solid state drive) flash drive. This nifty little device is small enough to be tethered to a keychain, while carrying enough capacity to store all your valuable data in one place. The entire contraption is even composed of a highly revered Victorinox Swiss knife with the all the regular accessories that define this military grade utility knife. This latest creation is yet another addition to the growing list of state of the art luxury flash drives from Victorinox and comes with a great deal utility tools as well. Victorinox portable drives are considered to some of the best flash drives and this new 1TB SSD flash drive is no exception.

The Victorinox 1TB SSD flash drive provides an astounding writing speed of 150 MB/s and a reading speed of 220 MB/s, which is more than sufficient for large data transfers to and from the PC. However, the most astounding element of this new flash drive is its compatibility with both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 protocols, while also providing connectivity to eSATA. The Victorinox flash drive has even been incorporated with  a LCD screen that displays the amount of space occupied, as well as free space on the drive, while giving the users the option of displaying custom message or a low resolution image. The Victorinox 1TB SSD flash drive is slated for an official launch in the month of August this year, with a price tag of $3,000.
