MTDC Flags Off a Refurbished Deccan Odyssey, the Luxury Train

The tourism development agency of the province of Maharashtra in India, MTDC had launched a luxury train called Deccan Odyssey in 2009. To maintain the exclusivity and freshness of the luxury train the interiors have been refurbished. Apart from the interiors some more luxurious amenities have been added to bring the train on par with a luxury 5 Star Hotel. The luxury train now has a spa, fitness center, lounge with library, beauty salon cum spa, business center, conference room, bar and restaurants as well as lavishly furnished cabins. It is ideal for a luxury vacation in India.

The tourism minister for the province of Maharashtra, Mr. Chagan Bhujbal, was both proud and happy while flagging of the train for the new season. He pointed out on the occasion that travelers opting for the Deccan Odyssey packages will have the benefit of all the conveniences and services of a five-star hotel in the train. It is the most convenient way of seeing the state as they need not look for hotel reservations or even travel arrangements for sight-seeing trips at every destination. The package includes all meals as well as air-conditioned buses at every stop and guided tours for guests.

The luxury train is being run in collaboration with the Indian Railways. Its launch was inspired by the resounding success of the Palace on Wheels that runs in the State of Rajasthan. The luxury train was aimed at the foreign tourists but has acquired a significant following amongst the domestic travelers. The train travels through Mumbai, Sindhudurg, Goa, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Chandrapur, and Nashik. The entire trip lasts for 168 hours and the prices start from $ 425 in the peak season. Have you ever undertaken a luxury train journey?
