Dusit Thani Bangkok, is one of the leading five star luxury hotels of Thailand and has hosted the ceremony of this year’s World Travel Awards on September 28th. Distinguished travel industry leaders and professionals, senior executives of the travel industries, hoteliers representing Australia and Asia’s hotels, international media from 30 countries, VIPs, attended the reputed ceremony of WTA 2011 at Dusit Thani Bangkok.
It is Thailand’s honor to play host in this international event. It seems they are proud to host the event for the first time, and at the same it has the approval of being a world-class travel and business destination. The awardees were recognized worldwide by travel industry accolades. Malaysia Airlines won a victory over Japan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air China , and Thai Airways to be awarded as a “Asia’s Leading Airline”. Meanwhile India won the “Asia’s Leading Destination and Trident Gurgaon came out victoriously as an ‘Asia’s Leading Hotel’. Korean Air had been voted as “Asia’s leading Airline First Class”.
Thailand, for the first time enjoyed evening’s honors, its role as hub of Asia for travel and tourism. Home winners included Bangkok Airways, Samui as Honeymoon Resort”; and Bangkok as Leading Meetings & Conference Destination of Asia.
Evening proved to be successful for Australia also with the winners of Air New Zealand, Bora Bora, as “Australasia’s Leading Destination” and Sheraton was picked up “Australasia’s Leading Hotel”. Graham E. Cooke, President of WTA said that the evening’s winners ware the cream of industry. The Ceremony of Australasia and Asia marks the fourth leg of WTA 2011.
