Barbie Dream House Design if Converted to Life Size House would Cost $3.5 Million

Barbie is over fifty years old now but the obsession for the renowned doll has grown and not diminished over the years. The Barbie dolls have been a favorite companion for girls since 1959 when they were first introduced. There have been many versions of the iconic doll and you also had the most expensive Barbie dolls in the world. Now a new initiative has produced a design for the Barbie dream house. This fascinating design will be the most expensive doll house if it takes shape as planned.

The best part about this design is that it is eco friendly despite being the most opulent doll house. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) in collaboration with Mattel has conceived this eco friendly doll house. This initiative is part of the planned launch of Mattel’s newest Barbie doll – “I Can Be Architect Barbie.” Ting Li and Maja Paklar, recent Harvard graduates won most of the public votes for their collaborative effort in designing the dream house. AIA hopes that it will inspire and educate young girls about the world of architecture.

Mattel does not have any plans, right now to turn the design into a doll house or a real manor but a life size version of the design would cost about $3.5 million to build. The design of the house features special bamboo flooring, green house, solar panels, landscaped rooftop, irrigation system and operable shading devices. To make the design sustainable the house has low floor toilet that can save up to 4,000 gallons of water per year and sink fixtures, all made of locally sourced materials. You really wish that the design is turned into a real house.
