In June this year, nominees for Virtuoso’s Best of the Best Hotel Awards were announced. The winners will be revealed in August. In the meanwhile, Travel + Leisure Magazine has made its selection. The magazine’s periodic lists of the best travel destinations are generally awaited with great anticipation. The travel magazine’s luxury picks are usually a little out of the box, without any compromising on service or ambiance. This year, Travel + Leisure has gone all the way to Tanzania to select the world’s best hotel.
The Singita Grumeti Reserves in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park is the chosen one in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s list of the best hotels of the world. Apparently, this Tanzanian luxury property received a high score of 98.44 out of 100 from readers who took the survey.
The Singita Grumeti Reserves are located in the jungles of the Serengeti and is a wonderful spot to base your African safari vacation. This is not your usual luxury hotel known for its hotel suites. It has two lodges and a tent camp. It may stand in a remote location, but that does not stop its staff from providing guests with five-star service.
This is a luxury property, so room rates are high. Prices for the base rooms in the tents and villas start from $1,095 per person per night. However, the package is inclusive of food, drinks and daily game drives. Moreover, many luxury tourists to Africa would not mind the price at all, for the Singita Grumeti Reserves are a hotspot for local wildlife. Huge herds of wildebeest pass through this region during their annual migration. Guests staying at the hotel during this period can actually catch the wildebeest in action right from their room windows.
