The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey Luxury Train Launched In USA

The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey is currently listed among the “World’s Top 25 Trains” by The Society Of International Railway Travellers. In 2010, this luxury train was named Asia’s Leading Luxury Train. It has got a nomination for 2011 as well. And now, Travel Corporation (India) Limited has launched The Indian Maharaja-Deccan Odyssey in USA. Rakshit Desai, Director of Travel Corporation (India) described this as a “key initiative” in the “potentially huge US market”.

This luxury train carries passengers to World Heritage sites like the Ajanta and Ellora caves, the Taj Mahal, the Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. There are stops at the cities of Ranthambore, Udaipur and Jaipur in Rajasthan. The journey is spread over 7 days. The travelling takes place at night, ensuring that guests reach a new destination each morning.

Guests can travel Silver, Gold or Platinum class. Each comes with a different set of facilities. For instance, guests travelling by Platinum or Gold class get to do sight-seeing on private chauffeur-driven cars. Guests in Silver class travel by luxury coach. There are English-speaking guides as well.

You certainly get to travel like an Indian maharaja. The train has 21 climate-controlled suites. This includes 11 guest coaches that offer panoramic views, twin/double cabins, en suite facilities and 24-hour dedicated valet service. The luxury train is also home to a spa and a gymnasium. Plus, there is all day dining, with food prepared by a Master chef. There is a well-stocked bar as well. The Taj Group of Hotels and Palaces provides the food and beverage services. This, like other equally popular luxury trains such as the Maharaja’s Express, offers a royal taste of luxury travel.
