Monaco’s Royal Wedding will Feature Lexus Hybrid Sedan as the Official Car

The Royal Wedding proved to be a rare business opportunity for many and it did contribute its bit to the economy. The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge driving off in a vintage Aston Martin did as much for the brand as a James Bond movie in which the secret agent drives one of their models. The other luxury car makers have also been thinking about occasions and ways to create a buzz around their brand. For a luxury brand it is always useful to create a royal buzz. After all it is the Royalty who are the symbols of a luxury lifestyle.

Lexus, the luxury car unit of Toyota has found a suitable royal occasion and they have moved in quickly to cash in on it. Prince Albert II of Monaco will marry Charlene Wittstock on Saturday, July 2. Lexus has announced that it will supply a specially prepared version of the Lexus LS 600h L, its flagship hybrid-powered sedan, as the official wedding car for Prince Albert II of Monaco and his bride-to-be Charlene Wittstock. It might not generate the same level of viewership as the British Royal Wedding but it would be as royal as it can be.

The car is being readied for the grand occasion. Some necessary modifications are being incorporated in the hybrid LS sedan. In fact it will be one of seven hybrid LS sedans that will carry members of Monaco’s royal family. Lexus on its part has grandly declared that they are doing their bit to minimize the environmental impact of the wedding celebrations. Lexus is highlighting the hybrid capability of their car. The car is scheduled to take the newlyweds on a tour of the principality and the car will run on electric power for at least 85% of the way.
