Chopard Diamond Sandals To Be Auctioned Off At Cannes

One can never go wrong with diamonds. So jewellery group Chopard has gone out on a limb and spent serious moolah on a new pair of diamond-encrusted stiletto sandals. This pair of diamond sandals, which is being tagged “the most precious shoe ever”, is the creation of famous footwear designer Guiseppe Zanotti. Moreover, the 22 carats of diamonds are not the only ingredients to have pushed up the costs of this pair of expensive sandals. This precious stiletto has been crafted using 134 carats of rubellites, 199 carats of pink sapphires and chains of rose gold. Indeed, this pair could give the centennial gold-and-diamond cowboy boots from Tony Lama a run for its money.

These shoes adorned the pretty feet of supermodel Anja Rubik as she arrived on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this Thursday, 19 May. Rubik was quite the eye-catcher at the event as she teamed these ultra-feminine jewellery shoes with a short feathery grey number.

But apart from decking the feet of a supermodel, this pair of shiny stilettos are destined for a good cause. The pair is scheduled to go up for auction at amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS event. Also up for auction will be a matching pair of hoop earrings in rose gold, pink sapphire and diamonds.

Among the other items going under the hammer at this high-profile charity event is a Roberto Cavalli dress that Naomi Campbell wore to Cavalli’s 40th birthday last year, an autographed Herb Ritts portrait of Liz Taylor and selections from Karl Lagerfeld’s fashion photo collection.
