Alexander McQueen is making headlines like never before. Last week, the luxury fashion brand earned tremendous press when Kate Middleton wore back to back Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dresses before and for her beautiful royal wedding. But the late British designer will also be in focus at the upcoming Costume Institute Ball, one of the most exclusive events on the East Coast of the United States. Popularly known as the Met Ball, the Costume Institute Ball is particularly well-known because the attendees (who largely form the top end of the fashion industry) wear and showcase some brilliant fashions.
At the 2011 Met Ball on Wednesday, a retrospective of Alexander McQueen will be on offer. Entitled Savage Beauty, the retrospective will follow McQueen’s work starting from 1996, right up until the 2011 royal wedding. The New York event is sure to attract the who’s-who of the fashion industry and plenty of people who want a piece of this high-fashion cake. That is why New York hotel The Plaza Athenee is offering a special “Savage Beauty Package“.
The luxury hotel is offering a Deluxe Guestroom for $1,045 a night and a Classic Suite for $1,540 a night. But the rates only hold for the first night. If you want to extend your stay, you will have to shell out $775 and $1,275 for the Deluxe Guestroom and Classic Suite respectively. It is a tad steep, but there are several plusses. Under the Savage Beauty Package, guests pay for the room, breakfast for two, a hardcover version of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and two priority entrance guest passes to the McQueen show at the Met Ball. Definitely a must-do for fashion fans.
