Riccardo Tisci for Whom Religion is an Obsession Edits the Visionaire RELIGION Issue

Religion is after all, anything you believe in. And that’s why for some fashion is their religion. It is no surprise that the industry operates as a religious sect with hard core devotees. But fashion and religion don’t seem to have a natural compatibility. But there are those who believe they can be brought together. If you don’t believe me then you must see the latest issue of Visionaire which is devoted to religion and guest-edited by Riccardo Tisci in collaboration with Givenchy. It is an unusual combination to say the least and the result is bound to be unique and interesting.

V Magazine has carved a respectable place for itself in the fashion world and Visionaire is like its fancy big sister. To put it in perspective one can say that Visionaire is like a couture book where as V is like ready to wear. Visionaire is published only thrice a year taking up an issue every time and has a flexible pricing depending on the final product that comes out. The price varies from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand dollars. The religion issue is being priced at $425.

Tisci believes that world doesn’t have much respect for religion but for him it is fundamental, almost like an obsession. He had a tough childhood and it was religion that kept him going with the belief that things would get better. Visionaires religion special will come in an unfolding wooden case and features some eye popping imagery. It has some haunting portraits by Karl Lagerfeld. You also have Madonna and Child revisited by Mario Sorrenti. Paolo Canevari and Francesco Carrozzini canonize Franca Sozzani. Visionaire 60 RELIGION will be out in June 2011. You may pre order your issue now.
