Tag Heuer To Unveil Top-Secret Apollo Project At Baselworld 2011

Baselworld 2011 continues to make headlines within the luxury segment. Sometime ago, we had admired the craftsmanship involved in creating Eberhard & Co.’s Chrono 4 Geant Titanium limited edition. Now, luxury watch company Tag Heuer is getting ready to release a new approach that could completely transform the way in which high-frequency chronographs are currently built. The watch company has scheduled an interactive online press conference at the 2011 edition of Baselworld where the top secret project will finally be unveiled.

Meanwhile, Tag Heuer‘s Facebook fans will be granted a sneak peek into the project. If statements by the company’s top officials are to be believed, this new project could completely change the time-keeping game. Tag Heuer’s President & CEO Jean-Christophe Babin described it as a “totally mind-blowing innovation”. The project which has so far been code named the Apollo Project has been a closely guarded secret within the watch company. So, it is sure to generate plenty of buzz ahead of the online press con.

The watch company decided to unveil the project over the Internet in a bid to involve other watchmakers, luxury watch collectors and fans. The photograph above has already been released on Facebook. It is something of a teaser to the Tag Heuer project. The text that accompanies the photo also claims that the secret Apollo Project is to watch-making what the first manned landing on Mars is to history. Fans are asked to guess what it might be. But any definite answers will only be revealed once the conference begins on 23 March at 6:45pm CET.
