Leicester Square in London now has a new luxury hotel. The W Hotel chain has a new address to add to its list of properties that includes one in New York. The launch of the chain’s high-end London hotel was a glittering affair with a celebrity studded guest list. Among the attendees was supermodel Kate Moss, stealing the limelight in a stunning black ensemble. Dressed in skinny jeans, a sequinned top, a jacket and pointy boots, Moss was the show stealer of the evening.
Joining Moss at the launch were the likes of jewellery designer cum socialite Jade Jagger, television personality Graham Norton and TV presenter-model Alexa Chung. The party was divided into four themed spaces inspired by North, South, East and West London. Moss spent her time at the W Lounge and Wyld Bar, which became North London. Iconic London music was on offer here. Jade Jagger was spotted at the Spice Market restaurant, which was moonlighting as West London. W’s screening room became South London with live acts by Lazy Susan, A Man to Pet and Dickie Beau being the USP. East London was located upstairs, complete with a checkerboard dance floor and drag queens.
However, even though the official launch party took place in March, the W Hotel London has been open to guests since February 2011. It has already played venue to other celeb-studded after-parties. These included the parties for London Fashion Week and the Baftas. It was reported that actor Lily Cole and model David Grandy continued their Bafta party at a plush suite in the hotel. So the London hotel has already garnered its share of tabloid gossip as well.
