MGM Hospitality Makes an Entry into India with a Hotel in Delhi

The hospitality market in India is one of the most dynamic in the world. Delhi International Airport Ltd. has leased land around the new International Airport to developers. Silver Resort Hotel India Private Limited (a company promoted by Blue Coast Hotels Limited), one of the developers has tied up with MGM Hospitality for a MGM Grand in Delhi. For the Las Vegas-based hotel-casino this will be its first destination in India. It will be ready to welcome guests by early 2014 but unfortunately there will be no casino on its premises as the local regulations do not permit it.

MGM Grand, with its characteristic lion at the entrance, is one of the prominent structures on The Strip, referred to a long stretch in Vegas lined with hotels and casinos on both sides. Their Delhi property will offer a variety of accommodations and the full-range of luxury services. The hotel will have a total of 480 guest rooms and a number of exclusive Skylofts brand suites and service apartments.

MGM Hospitality has big plans for India and they are already engaged in advanced negotiations and discussions for numerous other projects in key locations in the country, including Mumbai, the NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa and Jaipur. JW Mariott, Hyatt Andaz and Hyatt Place, Dusit D2, Pride Hotel, Pullman, Red Fox, Lemon Tree, Ibis, Holiday Inn and Novotel are some of the other hotels who are also interested in having a hotel in the district. The total space available is only 45 acres and it might not be possible to accommodate all projects there.
