Rolls Royce Motor Cars are very serious about developing an eco friendly product and have a prototype ready for on the road tests. The company recently released a photo of the prototype being called the 102 EX or the Phantom Experimental Electric. It is the electric powered version of the Phantom ultra luxury sedan. The car is being unveiled during the Geneva Motor Show. This is the first time a luxury car of this size is being powered by batteries. It is touted as the World’s Most Luxurious Electric Car.
The car will not only test the feasibility of battery power for a car of this size but also try and gauge the acceptance level particularly amongst the long time customers of the brand. The test model will be taken around the world and customers, car enthusiasts, auto writers and others will get access to test drive the car and share their opinion and feedback with the company.
Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös emphasised that they must get the technology right for the customers and the brand. The project is important for the company as it will create the platform for a sustainable future. Rolls Royce is now a unit of BMW AG and is moving cautiously for developing alternative drive systems for its vehicles. Whatever the final product may be, one thing is certain, it will never compromise on the authentic Rolls Royce experience.
