Jean Paul Gaultier Extends Junior Gaultier with Gaultier Bébé

Designing for infants is serious business now. Drapers Online has highlighted a report by Vogue UK about the French designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s imminent release of his newest range, Gaultier Bébé. The new range is expected to be launched later this month. The new line has been developed for infants and toddlers, right from newborns to two year olds. In some ways, this new range will be an extension of Gaultier’s existing line for children, Junior Gaultier.

The new line will feature Gaultier’s signature palette of red, white and blue on denim, knitted dungarees, tulle skirts and bodysuits. There are some sailor inspired pieces in the collection including tops, jumpsuits and even an adorable sailor cap. The British magazine for children, Junior has carried a report on the new collection and you can get a sneak peek online, at the images of the new collection.

Jean Paul Gaultier has been the artistic director of women’s wear at Hermes. He has become very busy after leaving the luxury label. Since leaving Hermes he has had several launches before this new collection. In 2010 Gaultier launched a collection for Target. He also launched a range of lingerie with La Perla and collaborated with Roche Bobois on home furnishings. With the infant’s collection coming up, he seems to be doing it all.
