There is a new style address on the Internet block. Luxury specialty retailer Barneys New York has announced the launch of The Window, an editorial site that will be housed on Barneys.com. The Window will stick to themes of luxury, with and style. The editorial site hopes to offer visitors a window to the world of fashion, luxury, culture, beauty and the people that make the headlines here.
Barneys collaborated with digital, media, design, and market research firm, Group SJR to develop The Window. Editing the site will be Lesley M.M. Blume, a contributing style editor at The Huffington Post. Blume has also written for Vogue, Vanity Fair and Slate among other publications.
Located at barneys.com/thewindow, the new site will be a blend of interactive features and exclusive content. Visitors will be able to sift through news, interviews, designer profiles and contributions from the biggest names in the fashion world. What is more, visitors will have direct access to the newly appointed Women’s Fashion Director, Amanda Brooks.
Three regular weekly columns have already been slated for the new site. These are ‘The Pedestal’, ‘On the Fly’ and ‘The Big Bang’. A team of style writers and trendsetters will be writing these columns. In terms of theme, ‘The Pedestal’ will be about all-things-Barneys, ‘On the Fly’ will focus on the headline makers and other prominent personalities of the industry, while ‘The Big Bang’ concerns itself with collecting amusing and inspiring stories about designers. Theory Creative Director Olivier Theyskens, Creative Ambassador-At-Large Simon Doonan and Carven designer Guillaume Henry are set to appear in the launch edition of The Window.
