Accessory Network Group recently acquired, Kooba, a handbag brand quite popular among celebrities. Founded in 1998, the upscale brand’s most popular design was the Sienna tote, a medium sized double handle shopper tote crafted from soft leather. Sienna tote’s success however could not be recreated despite the brand’s repeated attempts and the customers felt that the quality of leather used by the brand had gone down.
The brand however still remains quite popular and even ventured into shoe manufacture. Kooba will continue to manufacture, leather bags, shoes and small accessories, even after this takeover and will try to benefit from the marketing opportunities Accessory Network Group presents. Abbe Held, the co-founder and creative director of Kooba believes that with the help of ANG, Kooba will be able to expand their market.
Abe Chehebar, CEO of Accessory Network Group also shares the enthusiasm and sees this acquisition as a great addition to their growing handbag business. He said that Kooba has a presence in all the major high-end department and specialty stores throughout the world and ANG will try to expand this presence in both retail as well as international distribution. Hopefully both the parties will be able to achieve their aforementioned goals.
