Sirius Being Refitted as the Presidential Yacht for Dimtry Medvedev

Kremlin has bought the 177 foot long Sirius to replace the present presidential yacht which is due to be decommissioned. The boat with a range of 5,000 miles was bought from the Proteksan-Turquoise company in Istanbul according to a report in the Guardian. It is a spacious yacht with various luxury features including a bathing platform and several water toys and diving equipment. The Kremlin spokesperson did confirm the purchase of a second hand vessel but refused to comment on the price.

Sirius is being refitted for the new owner. The President would use the yacht primarily for relaxation but provisions have to be made in case he needs to work from the boat. Everything necessary for the President or anything the President might need has been thought of. People looking after the yacht think that it will come in handy during the 2014 Olympics and can be used in the Black sea port of Sochi.

The yacht that has been bought for the Russian President has whirlpool baths, an artificial waterfall and a cinema. Though there was no official confirmation of the price, the experts estimate the price to be in the region of £26 million. The furnishing and refurbishing of the boat will be over and above that. The news about the new purchase became known while the Russian President was on a visit to Davos for the World Economic Forum.
