Louis Vuitton Steps into the Big League of Haute Horlogerie, to Participate in Baselworld

Louis Vuitton has decided to announce its arrival in the field of haute horlogerie with style. They would, for the first time, be taking part in the biggest watch fair in the industry, Baselworld. Louis Vuitton is a leading name in the fashion world and has been making luxury travel trunks and accessories since its inception over a century and a half ago. It was only in 2002 that they stepped in to the field of luxury watches.

The first collection of luxury watches that Louis Vuitton unveiled was called Tambour, after the French word for drum. Over the years they have expanded their range to include not only hig end quartz movement watches but also haute horlogerie mechanical timepieces. In 2005 the launch of Speedy was another milestone in their growth in the field. Marc Jacobs, their fashion designer created Emprise in 2008, which was highly appreciated. In 2009, the brand’s La Chaux-de-Fonds factory in Switzerland became capable of producing high end luxury watches completely in-house

Louis Vuitton stepped in to the hute horlogerie big league with their Tambour Mysterieuse. With their wide range of luxury watches they are now fully prepared to take the plunge into Basel. But here again they want their first appearance in the show to be different to create an impact. They have not taken space in Baselworld’s Hall 1, instead they are taking over a canal boat and docking it in front of Les Trois Rois, the famed hotel on the Rhine river. They want to make a distinction between themselves and the other watch brands that are at the fair.
