The year 2010 is gone but it was a good year for Lange & Sohne, well known for their designer watches. In fact they were celebrating their 165th anniversary during the year and were elated to have scooped a phenomenal seventeen international awards in the course of 2010. The watchmaker has reaffirmed its position after the recognition it received at different award functions.
Lange Zeitwork came up as the brands leading light with four prizes including the prestigious ‘Red Dot Design Award’. It is the award for the product design category. The unique feature of the timepiece is its numerals that are obscured behind the dial for most of the day but can be charged through the dial’s semi-transparent, UV-permeable coating. The watch was launched over a year ago and is still receiving awards which total twelve by now.
Another top performer in the Lange portfolio was the Tourbograph “Pour le Mériteâ€which won awards at both the Vienna Time and Munich Time shows. Produced in a new, harder gold alloy, it was among the top three watches in the “Complicated Mechanism†category. Another winner for them was the Saxonia Annual Calendar that cornered the award in the ‘Classical Elegance’ category with both the public and expert juries.
