Jambox: A Speaker that Doubles up as a Communication Device

A new product, wireless speaker and speakerphone called ‘Jambox’ is designed by FuseProject for the mobile manufacturer Jawbone. The design company is led by Yves Béhar. The speaker is palm sized and can be carried easily anywhere. The portable wireless speaker connects to mobile phones, iPods, and computers. It enables the users to not only play media, but also movies, music and games with the help of Bluetooth.

Jambox consists of two efficient acoustic drivers and a small dome which causes the audio spectrum similar to that of human ear. This produces good sound quality and volume for its tiny size. The speakers come with moving-wall bass radiator and an amazing airtight enclosure thanks to which the speaker produces sonic waves of high and low frequencies which can be experienced from a foot away.

Its design is simple with minimum parts, and thus assembling them would also be an easy job. It has a strong body with its stainless steel construction and industrial weight rubber moulded case. They are available in Apple stores in 4 designs: Black Diamond, Grey Hex, Blue Wave and Red Dot. You can purchase them online for $199.
