LG PX950 3D HDTV Finally Achieves THX 3D Display Certification

LG Electronics, one of the biggest names in consumer electronic products has now achieved a added a new feather to its cap, as the company’s latest 3D HDTV, the LG PX950 has been awarded the THX Display Certification. The PX950 had already acquired the THX Certification for its 2D display capabilities and now with the 3D certification this 3D TV has now become the first of its kind 3D TV in the market to have been awarded with this distinction.

LG has announced that, the PX950 3D TV series will be launched in two plasma sizes, mainly 50 and 60 inches and both these variants will come with a price tag of $1,999 and $2,999, respectively. THX certification for 3D TV is a state of the art process and the first of its kind, where in, the products are out through a series of rigorous new tests and thousands of data points. The LG PX950 3D TV will offer the users the ability and convenience of switching from a conventional 2D display to a 3D picture with just the push of a button, where in the company has proudly stated that, this all new series of 3D TVs will provide the consumers with the fastest action sequences in gaming, sports and movies. Furthermore, the PX950 will also be comprised of an optional wifi connectivity feature, optional “Wireless Media Hub” interface and Netcast Interactive feature suite with Netflix, Vudu, Skype, Napster, YouTube, DivX, AccuWeather, and Yahoo Widgets.


According to Rick Dean (Sr. V.P, THX),

“THX spent more than a year in the lab developing our certification criteria and testing methodologies for 3D TVs and content. To present a truly immersive 3D experience in the home, a THX 3D-certified TV must be capable of delivering consistent stereoscopic images with accurate color and clean processing. THX applauds the LG PX950 as the first 3D TV series to pass this rigorous testing to achieve THX certification.”
