Rare Two Stone Ring With 10.95 Carat Blue Diamond to be Auctioned at Christie’s

The Christie’s auction in New York next month will witness a spectacular ring that could fetch as much as $15 million. It is a two stone ring with a rare triangular blue diamond the size of a quarter on a gold band with baguette-cut diamonds. At 10.95 carats, the stone is the largest triangular-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond ever to come to auction.

It is paired with a 9.87-carat white diamond cut in the same shape. Rahul Kadakia, Chistie’s jewelry expert was very excited while talking about the ring. In his opinion it is as good as it gets. And about the pairing of the diamonds he said that they were a perfect match in shape and size. They were made for each other and cut to be together.

The buzz is around the triangular-shaped fancy vivid blue diamond. It is the largest ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America. It was bought by a European businessman with a very keen eye for $1 million from Italian luxury jeweler Bulgari in Rome in 1972. It was bought as a gift for his wife to celebrate the birth of their son. The auction which is expected to generate a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm is scheduled for October 20, 2010.
