Mario from Australia Comes to California With His Wild Cad

How much time do you think it takes to remodel an old Cadillac. Well, a Harrington Park couple have spent six years remodeling a Cadillac. They would now be traveling with their wild cad to Long Beach , California to participate in the Showcase of Kustoms Motorama next month. It is special also because it is one of only two Australian creations to be part of the top 50 at the world’s biggest custom car show.

The couple, Mario and Catriona Colalillo hope to grab the esteemed D-elegance category with their remodeled 1955 Coupe De Ville. They will also take their wild cad to SEMA which is a premier event for specialty products. The chassis was built by Camden County Customs. A 7.4 liter 454 big block Chevy engine is used for power. Mario admits that the paint job must have cost upto $200,000 and was done by Winfield.

The interior of the ’55 Cadillac features Thunderbird seats and a centre mounted ’59 Chevy instrument cluster. The custom creation was first displayed at the Sydney Motor Ex in July. The couple hope to sell it during the custom car circuit. Billy Gibbson, Shaquille O’Neal and James Hetfield have already expressed their interest. After all Mario has a reputation of creating award winning custom cars.
