There is a deluge of concepts as well as actual designs that imagine day to day appliances in glamorous avatars. We have silver crescent shaped bathroom heaters and many more eye catching designs. Many of them are just amazing, but some of them are not. When I first heard about the leather covered oven concept by CDA, I did not know which category to put it in.
I was more inclined towards placing it in the ‘not so great concept’ category, but then I saw the pictures again and thought that they didn’t look all too bad. Displayed recently at the KBB 2010 show at Birmingham, these concept ovens have been designed by CDD’s MD, Ian Kershaw. There are six ovens in all and they have been created as part of an attention grabbing line of appliances that they wanted to come out with.
The leather used in the ovens have been provided by the famous Italian craftsmen Sandro Vanzo, who is known for designing lovely handbags and shoes. Kershaw says, “Our product development team is always on the lookout for imaginative ideas that are beyond the limitations of conventional manufacturing processes. . “The concept oven collection really pushes the boundaries in manufacturing and production techniques.”
