New Record for the Most Expensive Hot Dog

There are all kinds of records and the Guinness Book of World Records is full of very unusual ones. There is a new entry in the record books, that of the most expensive Hot Dog. Usually a hot dog is considered to be an affordable snack setting you back by just a few dollars. But on the National Hot Dog Day this year Manhattan’s Serendipity 3 restaurant decided to change all that and turned the simple hot dog in to a high end item.

To mark the National Hot Dog Day, the head chef of the restaurant, Joe Calderone created a hot dog that comes with truffle oil, a salted pretzel bed, truffle butter, duck foie gras, Dijon mustard, Vidalia onions and ketchup. After seeing the list of high end ingredients it should not be very difficult for you to guess the price of the special creation. The foot long hot dog was priced at $69.

Bruce, the owner of the restaurant, said that he chose the hot dog for the experiment and record because it is as American as the apple pie. Hot dog is not an ordinary food item anymore but joins the list of high-end dishes. For the record Trudy Tant was the lucky customer who willingly shelled out the $69 for the special foot long hot dog.
