The Kingsmill golf resort is going through a change of ownership. Xanterra Parks & Resorts , a Denver based company that also operates Grand Canyon Railway Central and Williams Depot in Arizona are the new owners of the resort. Xanterra has widespread interests in the business around the country. They manage resorts, restaurants, tours and other concessions in national parks and state parks as well as several other locations.

Kingsmill is a popular resort in Virginia. It has 422 rooms , six restaurants, a spa, marina, and above all a 15 court tennis centre. But the resort is best known for its golf courses which have been designed by Pete Dye, Arnold Palmer, Tom Clark and two-time US Open Champion Curtis Strange. The Virginia Gazette has reported the imminent transaction in great detail. They have also talked to the new owners about their plans for the resort.

Andrew Todd President of Xanterra has said in a press release “Kingsmill is one of the country’s premier resorts, and we are very excited to acquire such a high caliber resort that compliments our existing portfolio of properties and is consistent with the expansion of our company. We are very excited about the future of the resort and the community.”  The sale will be completed in August when Xanterra will take over the ownership and management of the resort.
