Aquariva speedboat by Marc Newson is reminiscent of the glamorous boats of the 60s

Here is a new jazzed up version of those motorboats from the 60s. Designed by Marc Newson, it is a product of his collaboration with Riva (Ferretti Group) Workshop and Italian Design. Called Aquariva, this boat will be marketed worldwide by the Gagosian Gallery based in New York. This limited edition will have only 22 pieces, and will be available from September onwards.

This $1.5 million speedboat is something to be proud of says Mauro Micheli and Officina Sergio Beretta of Italian design- “Newson has respected the original design of Italian Design Workshop and, without changing the dial, has made changes profoundly innovative new design of the transom, the wraparound windshield laminated glass, double door to the cockpit, bow thruster and the electronic transmission technology. Its design is well suited to the Riva style and makes this model really special.”

Unicoi, a material that resembles wood has been used for making this motor boat. This material was sort of the precursor to fibreglass, and was developed in the last century. The 10 metre long stunner has handles, hooks and holds that are made of anodized aluminium, giving it a very modern look. It is truly a mix of form and function.
