Takashimaya To Close Shop At Fifth Avenue

There isn’t good news for all the Takashimaya loyalists out there. The famous Japanese brand which is also a much respected Fifth Avenue shopping destination in New York will soon be shutting its doors. Situated at number 693 on the fashion street of the happening city, the shop will close in June this year while the online shopping option will end tomorrow. The source of this information is a posting on their webpage.

From what we are told, Takashimaya has been on Fifth Avenue since 1958. A multi-storied shop, this one has housed women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, home decor and gifts all these years. Apart from these, one could also enjoy the benefits of a floral boutique and rejuvenating spa. But the service did not just end there. It even gave Bento lunch boxes just as they do in the Japanese tradition.

Reports suggest that the owner of this Japanese fashion retail has plans to sell off the location. Also, six Takashimaya stores have been closed in Japan as well. Looks like the classic work of the recession. Wonder what’s gonna happen next to the fashion brand that we have known to love so much!
