Insure.com tops the List of Most Expensive Domain Names
If you were wondering which could be the most expensive domain name, well, here is a list of the world’s 10 most expensive domain names. These domain names have been auctioned and sold, and resold and put up for sale several times for several millions of dollars. The one that tops the list is Insure.com which sold to QuinStreet for $16 million in 2009.
Fund.com costs a whopping $9.99 million and is the third most expensive domain in the world. Business.com was sold for $7.5 million in 1999. The other domains that feature in the top 10 list are Diamond.com, Beer.com, Israel.com, Casino.com, Toys.com and Vodka.com. If you were to purchase any of these domains, you better have several millions of dollars with you ready.
These sites may not have much content but because of the popularity of the root name, a heavy traffic could be expected no matter what. These premium domain names are usually auctioned off to companies and individuals who seek to sell them again, and buy them as an investment. 20 years ago, these domains could be registered for peanuts. Isn’t that funny?
