Blancpain will officially release their previously announced Blancpain 500 Fathoms timepiece at The International Boat Show in Cannes, which will begin from September 9-14, 2009. In addition to this, Balncpain will also release a special limited edition version of the Blancpain 500 Fathoms watch to celebrate the event. These limited edition watches feature a specially engraved caseback.

The 500 Fathoms’ rotor gives you a propeller shape along with a hand perlage polish on it. The titanium case is 48mm wide. However, the case may be somewhat prone to scratches. So, you will have to pay enough attention to it. The rotating diver’s bezel has a sapphire crystal over it. The caliber 1315 movement is very accurate.

The watch too is 1000 meters water resistant. So, you can easily swim along with the watch almost wherever you want. The price for these watches is likely to be approximately $15,000.  Now this is a tad too expensive for a watch. Considering that ‘recession’ is burning big holes in most of our pockets, it’s not too a good idea to splurge so much on a watch. At least, I wouldn’t do so.
