Bertolucci Goes In The Air With The Olive Tree For The Pretty Ladies Out There

serena-by-bertolucci Bertolucci Goes In The Air With The Olive Tree For The Pretty Ladies Out There

The newest offering from Bertolucci is a set of watches (available individually too) that go by the poetic names of ‘In The Air’ and ‘The Olive Tree’. Since these timepieces come from the workshop of the fames Italian watch maker, you can well expect them to be verry smooth in luxury without a trace of any convention. And that is just it. In The Air model flaunts a very dainty wind swept pattern on the dial while the first thing you notice in The Olive Tree model is an olive branch (but of course!).

Both watches have a steel frame that is 29mm is wide and 40mm tall with curved dials done in silvered opaline and metallic decor to tell time. The Olive Tree has been embellised with 66 small diamonds that really consitute the olive branch. There are 5 diamonds on the leather strap, the same applies to In The Air too. We really liked the varnished look of the straps that go all the way through the  case and then get screwed on the backside.

temperly Temperly London Design Is A Chic Fashion Accompaniment

You will agree that it’s always nice to shop once in a while for an unusual hand bag that isn’t your black or white. Here we have a very structured fashion accompaniment that comes in a very pretty and rather rare shade of blue with subtle intones of black. Called the Temperly London Design this one has fashionable studs on the front flap that will blow you away.

We do realise that it is a wee bit small for a shoulder bag but still it is spacious enough to hold you bare essentials for the day (it’s ok once in a while to step out without carrying your bottle of water and rely on the many vending machines standing out there). Again, the smallness of the bag makes it a good fit for evening hang outs too.

Lil Wayne’s 27th Birthday Saw A Sparkling-ly Delicious Diamond Cake
Posted in Celebrity Shopping, Diamond, Expensive Food on 30 September 2009

lil wayne

‘Glitzy & glamourous’, such is the life of the rich and the famous (especially so if you are a rapper)! So far we have witnessed extreme flashy dressing, jewelry rock and bizarre make ups. But all that will bite into dust now for American Grammy Award-winning rapper Lil Wayne has raised the ‘luxe lifestyle’ benchmark way up.

Well, it was his 27th birthday a few days ago. Any guesses on how he celebrated it? Apparently, he decided to cut a diamond-studded cake. Yep, this one was quite a cheesy beauty. With red icing sugar and sparkling diamonds all over, it did look extradordinary and a cake with a sense of humor and luxury. Though we really do not know if the diamonds were edible or did the guests walks out with the ones landing on the lucky slice of the cake.

i-Scoob: Snowmobile For Arctic Ride

i-scoob11 i-Scoob: Snowmobile For Arctic Ride

Snow riding is something every urban creature sweating away between high-rises dreams of. The thought of having to push through the vagaries of nature with all body force and those bumpy rides is however not so welcoming. How about having a snow car that does not push you up and down the ice snow slopes alone, but does that more functional role of transporting you? i-Scoob serves that purpose.

A luxury vehicle, snowmobile is meant for two people, has a hybrid internal combustion engine and has also a joystick to make way through the snow.

The vehicle’s engine can be charged with an electricity socket, fold out solar panels and batteries that can be tucked away in its storage – a blessing for unusual terrains! You do not quite have to get wet in the snow to enjoy the thrills though. The snowmobile’s body looks dashing and so does its techno design and is particularly designed for the arctic ice terrains.

Craigerators: Cool Beer Boxes and Taps These!
Posted in Alcohol, Luxury, Products, Spirits on 30 September 2009

Bone Box CraigeratorA beer dispenser that floors you with looks! Kegerators, aka beer dispensers designed by Craig Jones are examples of whacky brainwork in design. What’s more. They double up for superb ideas to recycle anything old! They are remodelled refrigerators and resemble your coffee dispensers at the workplace. Aptly called Craigerators, they come in fiery reds and cool blues with jazzy designs, enough to rock any party.

The iPod Kegerator by Craig Jones, named Fire and Ice, for instance, has a Bose Speaker dock in the front door. It also has neon lights at its bottom. The overflow from the tap goes back into the Kegerator door to keep it from spilling on the mug.

There are other designs too, like the Raidator with its silver and black finish, Woody with a staid pale blue and wood finish, the Devil May Care and Hardcore kegerators with the red and black combination! To top the whacky names list, is Bone Box, replete with a danger sign, though it spills only beer, not blood.

Out-of-box designs are expensive, just as ideas. So Craigators could cost you as much as a car. Not a big deal if you’re pockets are deep.

MicroFridge Products Make The Best Of Small Spaces

microfridge1 MicroFridge Products Make The Best Of Small Spaces

The designs of gadgets and appliances made especially with the thought of saving space have increasingly improved. Ever since the industry realised the huge market they were missing out on because they hadn’t considered the needs of students living in college dorms or people in mini-apartments, micro appliances (especially for the kitchen) have become a norm.

MicroFridge manufactures a host of appliances designed with the concept of being effective space-saving products. The all-in-one microwave and fridge runs on a single power cord and doesn’t just effectively reduce the amount of space required, but also does away with the ensuing chaos and possibility of electrical hazards reminiscent of small spaces and multiple electrical appliances. The products may not be big on style but the minimalistic designs would appeal to most individuals. Since they have been designed specifically for college-dorm, military or small apartment settings, the simplicity of the designs also makes more sense.

Carpet Radio Makes You Work For Your Music

carpet-radio Carpet Radio Makes You Work For Your Music

In this age of iPods and cell phones with mp3 players, not many people own a radio and the thought of buying one will have you immediately declared most square. Then again, the people who would consider you made for thinking of buying a radio have probably not heard of the Human Antenna.

The Human Antenna was designed by Florian Krautli as a graduation project at Design Academy Eindhoven this year and it looks nothing like what you would expect a radio to look like. The radio includes a carpet that requires the individual to prance upon it and act as the antenna for the radio. Step barefoot upon the carpet made of conducive thread and work to get the signal just right.

Just like the pull-out antenna of a retro radio, the individual standing on the carpet will receive the radio signals making it possible for you to listen to the signal. Unfortunately, the carpet looks way too comfortable to try getting some radio signals on and will give you ideas that have nothing to do with a radio

Check out the video of the radio in action.

Word Clock: Read The Time!
Posted in Designer, Luxury on 29 September 2009

word clock

Since the creation of clocks, they have come a long way in both the working and design. You can pretty much find any type of clock that you could desire for these days. Whether you have a liking for glow in the dark Mickey Mouse watches like Robert Langdon or something studded with a filthy amount of diamonds, you can get it.

Those who have trouble reading the multiple hands of old-type watches can get over their embarrassment by opting for a digital clock that tells you the time in numbers, but how about getting yourself a clock that will actually read out the time for you. MAKE subscriber Doug was inspired to make himself the DIY Word Clock after he found one on the site and this clock could seriously make the dyslexic uncomfortable.

Stay At Frank Wright Designed Fallingwater For $1,195
Posted in Designer, Home Decor, Luxury on 29 September 2009

Fallingwater-Frank-Lloyd-Wright_11 Stay At Frank Wright Designed Fallingwater For $1,195

Fallingwater was designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright over seven decades ago and takes its name from the fact that the luxuriously and breathtakingly beautiful house is partly built over a waterfall. Considered as one of the best designs of American architecture, individuals wishing to view Fallingwater have to pay $18 for a tour of the Kaufmann residence.

The ethereally stunning house would be open for more than just a tour for 8 lucky individuals. These individuals would be treated to an overnight stay of Fallingwater and would have the house all to themselves since the property would be closed off to the rest of the public during this period. Though the select group of individuals would have to pay a large price for the treat, the stay may be worth every single dollar since no visitor has yet had the privilege of staying over at the famed property.

Individuals will have to pay $1,195 to stay at the 5,300 sq ft Pennsylvania property. However, even these lucky individuals would not actually get to live in the Kaufmann home but would instead be housed in a ne Wright style home situated within the property grounds.
