Vertu, Nokia’s deliciously luxurious division that shells out high-end mobile phones just got a new feather on its cap. The popular line Ascent Ti has got itself a new version with the Vertu Ascent Ti Damascus Steel. An ancient steel forging technique has been used to get this rather new shape with an increased strength and hardness. We especially liked the hand etching on the phone.

For the uninitiated, the same technique is used to make Samurai swords and Indian Wootz swords. So you can be assured that the Ascent Ti Damascus is a sturdy one.

Also, technical specifications are just the same as the other Ascent Ti phones like a QVGA display, S40 UI, GSM?UMTS connectivity, a 3.2 MP camera with LED flash and 4GB internal memory. Part of a limited edition, Damascus as only 100 units into production. We haven’t heard of the price tag yet but it will be high.
