Lakshmi Mittal World’s Richest Soccer Club Boss

Steel prices may be diving in the face of recession, but India-born steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal is the world’s richest soccer club owner in the Forbes list of soccer billionaires, with a net worth of $19.3 billion, according to Forbes.

Mittal is followed closely by Amancio Ortega of Deportivo De La Coruna team with a net worth of $18.3 billion and Software giant Microsoft’s co-founder Paul Allen ($10.5 billion) ranked third.

Commenting about the top soccer 10 picked up from its list published in March, the American business publication said that while anybody could by a ticket to a soccer game, `these moguls own the teams on the field’.

Despite this, the cumulative net worth of the 10 soccer club owners has plummeted from $ 150 billion to $ 90 billion.
Forbes said that Lakshmi Mittal who operates the world’s largest steel company is the richest in spite of his team not being worth all that much.

Mittal was the eight among the world’s richest people, down from his position four a year back, in its annual ranking of the world’s richest people.

It was in 2007 that Lakshmi Mittal bought a stake in the London-based Queen’s Park Rangers, joining Formula One tycoons Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone as owners.
