Diamond Necklace for $15 mn

Diamond Necklace

Here is a 290-carat “Ponahalo” necklace retailed at $15 mn (117 Million Hong Kong dollars) displayed at the diamond necklaces exhibition in Hong Kong. Globally, the desire for diamond persists to nurture and all thanks to its colossal demand in India and China.

In previous year, India and China witnessed a growth of 26% and 18% respectively in terms of sales generated through diamonds. The present reach of diamond in China’s market is incredible; almost 17% of women hold around 10 pieces of diamond-festooned ornaments.

At present, the luxury market of India is $2 billion and as per India’s main trade federation its growth rate is 20% a year. Industry analysts claim that with such infatuation for shopping, China would be a hub of around seven of the world’s 10 biggest shopping malls by 2010.
