An Indian Tea maker claims the black tea produced by his Glendale Tea estate at Coonoor as the most expensive in the world. Pricing it at $600, he is expecting it to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The black tea made with Super-Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe will be sold at the world tea expo in March 2006 at Las Vegas.

The most expensive green tea in the world to make an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records was a rare Chinese green tea called Tieguanyin, which costs 1,700 Yuan ($3,000) per kilo (per 2 lb 3 oz) approximately 8.50 Yuan ($15) for a single cup, but after the coming in of the Indian tea, the records might alter as there would be a new category for black tea which will be represented by Indian tea in the Guinness Book of World records.
